Captions for this cute twosome

by SeEtta (South Central) on September 13, 2012

This cute nuthatch twosome posed for such cute photos-they had just bathed and were drying off perched right next to each other. I thought they deserved some fitting captions so here goes–

Caption for photo #1:  Bird on left: “Did you hear who was caught in Rachel Robin’s nest?”  Bird on right: “Keep your voice down, those Robins can hear earthworms under the ground!”

Caption for photo #2: Bird on the left: “Oh, look at poor Carly Cardinal, she’s molted all the feathers from her head again” Bird on the right: “Ick! If I was a cardinal I wouldn’t be caught dead during my molt.”

Caption for photo #3: Bird on the left; “Those humans are so strange. First they plant that funny grass and they fertilize it and water it–then they don’t let it grow because they are always cutting it with those mowers.” Bird on the right: “You think that’s nuts–have you ever heard them at night trying to ‘hoot’ back at Ollie Owl.”

Caption for  photo #4: Bird on the left: “Hey, you poked me!” Bird on the right: “Move over, you’re makin me claustrophobic.”

What captions would you give them?

Hi KJ,
Or maybe they are looking at those cute chick-adees in the bird bath?

Caption for photo #3 since they look to me as if they’re being scolded for getting all wet.

“But Mom, you said go wash up for supper.”

Photo #1 (Bird on right) “Look at my beak, I think there’s something on it.”
Photo #2 I agree with bird on left, for bird on right “We’re so wet we look like we’re molting too Fred!”
Photo #3 (Bird on left) “Look at that funny yellow moss.” (Bird on left) “I see some too!”
Photo #4 (Bird on right) “Fred, Fred, let’s play knock-each-other-off-the-branch. You go first.”

Hi Cheery,
Thanks, those are great. I hadn’t even noticed the yellow moss until you put it in that caption!

In the October/November 2012 “Birds and Blooms” magazine on page 60. A caption for the Opossum napping in the birdhouse:

“Hope I left my snooze button on”.

I don’t think new captions can top what was given with the pictures! They are great!
