It was way back in our December/January 2012 issue when we first pictured this adorable bluebird image, taken by Michelle Holland of Kountze, Texas. At the time, it won the birding category for our annual Backyard Photo Contest. Then recently, it went on to win the grand prize against our three other category finalists. Congratulations Michelle! And thanks to everyone who voted throughout the contest.
I spoke with Michelle about her photo. She says she feeds the bluebirds every day around the same time, so when it was feeding time one day, she was ready with her camera. To read more about Michelle and how she got this amazing shot, look for the interview in our October/November issue, which should hit mailboxes and newsstands soon!
Don’t forget to enter your own great photo in this year’s contest. Michelle walked away with $1,000. This could be you! Here are the details on the current contest. Don’t wait until the last minute!

Incredible beauties!
This is such a fantastic shot!! I’m not very creative with captions but I can’t help but comment on the beautiful photo.
We are attempting to log in for the photo contest, but it goes to a blank screen. Suggestions? Thanks!
Am I reading your contest rules correctly? In this age of digital photography, you do not accept digital submissions for your photo contests? Say it isn’t so!
